Last week, Tionae Thomas’ took to Facebook to share a story about what her 14-year-old daughter did when she saw a little boy sitting alone in a shopping center parking lot. Since then, it has gone on to inspire thousands upon thousands of people. Read the full story below; we guarantee it will warm your heart and restore your faith in humanity.
“My 14-year-old daughter (and I) were on the way home and she saw a elementary kid sitting under a tree in a shopping center. She said, ‘It’s too hot momma stop the car.’ She then asked the boy ‘Where are your parents?’ The boy said, ‘I don’t know.’ She said ‘Can you call them?’ He said ‘I only have my dad’s number.’
She let him call his dad also not standing too close so he wouldn’t be afraid. Then she told him to get off the street and go in front of the Rite Aid so strangers won’t try to get him and he can run in the store if need be.
Then she said, ‘Momma let’s wait until he gets picked up and I might have to get him some water if it’s not soon.’ This is why I will never let a person tear me down as a mother. This is just confirmation of the kind of children I’m raising, Queens and kings.”
As the post went viral on both Thomas and Love What Matter’s Facebook page, more information surfaced. Turns out, the little boy had just started his first year of middle school and was unsure about to do after school.
According to the little boy’s aunt, Kim Moore, his parents, who recently got a divorce, got their schedules confused, but thanks to Tionae’s original post and her daughter suggesting that he call his parents, the little boy was safely reunited with his parents.
“Thank you for letting him call his dad and one more huge thank you for watching over him”, Moore wrote in the comment section under the post. “He is going through a really tough time.”
Kudos to Tionae for raising such a caring and compassionate daughter.
