To celebrate President’s Day, Morehouse College, a historically Black, all-male college located in Atlanta, Georgia, proclaimed today as “Barack Obama Day”. From becoming the first African American President of the United States, to being the first African American president to serve two terms, to the many historic moments during his presidency, Barack Obama’s incredible legacy is simply undeniable.
Here’s the flyer from the on-campus event, which reads: “This year, we are seizing the traditional President’s Day holiday as an opportunity to take a nuanced look at the good, the bad and the complicated moments of the Obama presidency, and the future of his legacy. Join us for a powerful day of dialogue, debate, and discourse.”In addition to the event featuring public intellectual Michael Eric Dyson as its keynote speaker, the day was filled with informational breakout sessions that addressed topics such as: “Black Health Care After Obamacare”, “Obama’s Pop Culture Presidency” and students reflected on what Obama means to them.
President Obama received an honorary doctorate degree from Morehouse College at their commencement ceremony in 2013.
