If we have learned anything from Taraji P. Henson, it’s the importance of never giving up on your dreams and celebrating each other’s wins (flashback to the 2015 Emmys when she was cheering on Viola Davis and Regina King).
Now, to celebrate her 20-plus-year acting career, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will honor the Oscar-nominated actress with her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“Taraji P. Henson is a powerful woman and a powerful actress. She is an entertainer that fans cannot take their eyes off of due to her great acting ability,” said Hollywood Walk of Fame Producer Ana Martinez. “We welcome her bright star on our Walk of Fame.”
Henson responded to the news by reposting the powerful speech she gave when she accepted the 2016 Lucy Award at the Women In Film’s annual fundraising gala.
Since moving to Los Angeles at the age of 26 with $700 and a toddler son to pursue an acting career, Henson has become a household name with films such as ‘Baby Boy,’ ‘Hustle & Flow,’ ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,’ and ‘Hidden Figures’ under her belt. She also won her first Golden Globe for her role of Cookie Lyon in ‘Empire.’
Henson’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony is set to take place on Monday, January 28.
Well-deserved! Congratulations, Taraji!
