Simone Biles continues to show up, show out and prove why ESPN named her the most dominant athlete of 2018. Her most recent accomplishment? On Saturday night she earned her sixth consecutive gold medal at the U.S. Classic in Kentucky.
Before the competition started Biles wowed onlookers during training by doing a never seen before triple twisting double back somersault.
Biles performed a floor exercise, vault, balance beam and uneven bars to earn an overall score of 60 points, according to NBC Sports.
Despite stepping out of bounds during her floor routine, she was still able to recover and dominate the competition. Her bounce back was so impressive that at the end of her performance one commentator said, “and that is why she is the greatest of all time.”
The four time Olympic gold medalist spoke to reporters afterwards, sharing her commitment to reaching her best self.
“Overall I think there are some improvements to be made,” she said.
Biles is set to compete at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. She has announced this will be her last. Until then, she’s preparing for her next showing which will be held in Kansas City, Missouri for the U.S. Nationals. There, Biles will compete for her sixth U.S. title.
Go Biles, go!
