Champale Anderson is making a difference in her neighborhood, one lunch and snack at a time. For the last five years she has provided a bag with sandwiches and snacks to any child who knocks on her door and asks, Fox 2 News reports.

The North St. Louis woman is a mother of six who knows the importance of eating a good meal. She also knows that there are people in her community who can’t afford the cost or in some cases the time necessary to provide snacks on demand for their growing children. As a result, she has an open door policy.

A handwritten sign hangs outside her home that reads “Champ Tears Drops, free snacks anytime. Donations welcome.”

“I’m just trying to help the kids that don’t have enough at home or just hungry after school. I been doing this out my own money and i’m just reaching out,” Anderson said on her GoFundMe page.

The donations help her purchase the items that go inside the bags. They range from peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, fruit, cookies, juice, snacks and “a few surprises for her special babies.”

Anderson noticed the kids were always hungry when they got off the bus. Now they run to her home as soon as they get out of school eager to see what the bags will hold. She said sometimes parents bring their kids to get the food.

While 100 bags seem like a lot, her goal is to fix more and eventually make her in-home operation mobile.
