Wow!
Vince Carter just made history as the first NBA player to hit the court in four different decades, CNN reports.
Carter was a member of the 1998 NBA draft, playing his first game in 1999. When he entered the league, Michael Jordan was MVP, Tim Duncan was Rookie of the Year, Shaq and Kobe had yet to win their first championship, and LeBron James was going to the 8th grade, NBA.com reports.
In short, Carter has had a LEGENDARY career. Over the course of his time in the league that spans four decades, the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s and 2020s, Carter has earned 8 All-Star appearances, 2 All-NBA honors, an Olympic gold medal, and more than 25,000 points under his belt. But he is known best for his ethereal dunking abilities. The University of North Carolina alum once dunked over the head of a 7-foot-2 player at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, now known as “the Dunk of Death.” He is the oldest NBA player at 42-years-old and has already announced that this season will be his last.
Vinsanity walked into the State Farm Arena this weekend in his Atlanta Hawks gear to a standing ovation – an honor fit for a King.
Since this is his last season, we’ll be glued to the TV to see the “half-man/half-amazing,” one last time. Keep making history Vince!
