It’s wine o’clock!
A Black-owned Texas 7-11 hits its best sales numbers to date, thanks to the Black Girl Magic Wine company, MadameNoire reports.
Alyson Rae Lawson, an Arlington, Texas 7-Eleven franchise owner, recently reported her highest sale quarter yet thanks to the Black Girl Magic Wine collection. Lawson said she chose to stock up on the Black-owned wine brand from sisters Andrea and Robin McBride, and before she knew it, she couldn’t keep the product on her shelves.
“It started with the Black Girl Magic collection, and that sold like crazy. Then once I bought out all of the warehouses in Texas, I said, why don’t I get the rest of the McBride’s in stock until I get more Black Girl Magic,” Lawson told Fox 4 News. “It kind of blew out of the water. I think my last order of the entire McBride collection was 80 cases.”

The McBride sisters are the owners of the largest Black-owned wine company in the nation. The Black Girl Magic Wine collection features a Rose, Riesling, and Red Blend. Still, they also have a selection of canned wines entitled She Can, which features spritzers, Sauvignon Blanc, and Rose, and a McBride Sisters collection, which includes Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Sparkling Brut Rose.
The wine began selling so rapidly that Lawson took to social media just to notify customers about when the popular drink would be back in stock. Robin McBride said she’s never seen anything like it.
“I don’t know that we’ve seen an account quite like this before. [Lawson] brought in 10 cases of Black Girl Magic, and they sold out the first day,” McBride said. “The next day, they brought in 30 cases, and they sold out that day. Then 70 cases and it sold out immediately. [Lawson] said [she] can’t even keep [them] in stock.”
The two women business owners have been keeping in touch, navigating their various sectors of entrepreneurship and supporting each other along the way.
“Got a surprise call from Robin McBride today! Such a beautiful spirit,” Lawson captioned a photo on social media. “It feels good to appreciate each other and the hard work that we do on both ends!!! Black-owned business love!!! This is how it works!!!”
