The Fresh Prince is back!
After months of waiting, “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reunion” has a release date. The iconic show will premiere next week on HBO Max. Will Smith told fans Friday, with the release of the special’s trailer on his Instagram page. The reunion brings the Banks family, including the original Aunt Viv, back together three decades after the sitcom’s debut.
“These are the people who made me the man I am today,” Smith wrote in his Instagram post Friday. “And I couldn’t let this day go by without marking the occasion.”
It was taped on the 30th anniversary of the original series’ premiere date, Sept. 10th. The special will delve into the impact the series has had on the culture since its debut 30 years ago. It brings Smith and series regulars Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Tatyana Ali, Daphne Maxwell Reid, Alfonso Ribeiro, and recurring co-star DJ Jazzy Jeff on-set in the Banks’ home for an unscripted family reunion.
In a moment the fans have been waiting for, Smith and Janet Hubert, who played the role of Aunt Viv for the first three seasons, came together for an emotional and candid conversation for the first time in 27 years.
The special is produced by Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Westbrook Media. It will air Thursday, Nov. 19th, on WarnerMedia’s streaming service, HBO Max. Fans of the show can also look forward to the dramatized reboot of the series based on Morgan Cooper’s YouTube trailer that went viral last year, is set to debut later this month.
We can’t wait to tune in!
