Cartoons just got a little more colorful!
Princess Tiana and a new Pan-African animated series, Iwaju, are set for streaming on Disney+, ET News reports.
The announcement was made at Disney Investor Day, an annual event where Marvel, Star Wars, Disney Animation Studios and even Pixar showcase their new offerings and projections. It’s become quite the event for significant reveals, and this year was no different. Disney Animation Studios announced a new crop of series coming to the new Disney+ streaming site, including one based on the first Black Disney princess, Tiana, and a new Pan-African animated series entitled Iwaju.
Tiana, a new series based on the Disney princess from The Princess and the Frog, is a long-form musical-comedy set in the kingdom of Maldonia. Tiana goes beyond her native home in New Orleans, Louisiana, to run her empire and give us a fresh new batch of adventures. Tiana will make history as the first Disney Princess to lead her own series and is scheduled to air in 2023.
