It’s a family affair!

University of South Carolina defensive back, Shilo Sanders, is transferring to Jackson State University to join his younger brother, Shedeur. His father, Deion Sanders, Pro Football Hall of Famer, announced he would become head coach of the JSU Tigers back in September. He vowed to bring HBCU’s relevance in college football to the forefront. Shilo, a redshirt freshman, took to Twitter to announce his decision, saying, “Pops said he needed some dawgs! So I’m joining my brother to help change the game at JSU and level the HBCU playing field.”

Shilo had 32 tackles and a pass deflection in nine games for the Gamecocks this season. He appeared in four games in 2019 but took the season as a redshirt. His brother was a four-star high school quarterback. He switched his commitment to Jackson State from Florida Atlantic in November, signing with JSU on national signing day this past Wednesday. Deion must be proud to have his sons joining him on the team and the school he is looking to bring to the top.

When Deion joined the JSU Tigers, he said, “I am truly blessed to be the 21st Head football coach of Jackson State University. This amazing HBCU has always enjoyed a high level of commitment academically and athletically. It’s my desire to continue this storied tradition and history of JSU and prayerfully bring more national recognition to the athletes, the university, the Sonic Boom of the South, and HBCUs in general. I am TRULY proud to be a part of the JSU Tiger family. ‘I BELIEVE.'”
