This is Black excellence personified! Dr. Charis Chambers and her brother, Dr. Wesley C. Chambers just took sibling goals to the next level! The two recently partnered up in the operating room at their local hospital to perform a laparoscopic hysterectomy on a patient.
Dr. Charis posted a photo to Instagram sharing her excitement stating, “Getting to do surgery on any day is an amazing experience. Getting to do surgery with my brother- even more amazing!”
She went on to share that his support and partnership throughout the case was the best gift he had ever given her.
Because of Them We Can spoke to Dr. Charis to find out what led her and her older brother to that special moment.
“This was performed at our local hospital where me, my , Dad and brother are all credentialed surgeons. We are all Board Certified OBGYNs.”
That’s right! Their father, Dr. Crandall Chambers is a doctor too! In fact, they all work alongside one another at their family practice, Chambers OBGYN in Columbus, GA.
Dr. Charis credits her father with inspiring her to follow a similar path.
“My father was the first physician that I ever knew and he spoke to us often about his work. I loved how passionate he was about serving his patients and improving their lives with medical or surgical treatment.”
The trio also share another thing in common, they attended HBCUs. Dr. Crandall attended Morehouse (’83) and Meharry (’88), Dr. Wesley attended Morehouse (’06) and Dr. Charis attended Spelman (’10).
Together they are family goals and doctor goals!
