She’s earned three degrees in less than three years!
According to The Black Wall Street Times, Shania Muhammad first made headlines last year when she became the youngest student to obtain an associates degree from Langston University, the only historically Black college located in Oklahoma. She also obtained another associate’s degree at the same time from Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC). Now she’s back again, this time making history as the youngest student to earn a bachelor’s degree from Langston, graduating Summa Cum Laude at just 15-years-old.
“History was just made again for the 3rd time by a 15yr old 3x college graduate,” her father Elijah Muhammad announced on social media.
The latest degree marks number three for Shania in less than 3 years, an impressive feat for any student, much less one her age. The teen earned her bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences – Child Development and was awarded The Outstanding Graduate Senior Award for the entire department by the University.
Shania comes from a family who believes wholeheartedly in education, enrolling at OCCC when she was only 13 before earning her first associate’s degree from Langston at the age of 14. Her mother Atashia Muhammad is an associate professor at the University and was there to award her first degree in what she called a “special moment.” And as if Shania’s accomplishments weren’t extraordinary enough, her younger brother Elijah Muhammad Jr. is fast on her heels, enrolling at OCCC last year at just 12-years-old and making history as the youngest Black college student in the state of Oklahoma.
“We have a bunch of competitiveness, but she really helps me out with a lot of my studying,” Elijah said last year.
Shania said she has enjoyed college life and looks forward to continuing her studies.
“I actually experienced and enjoyed Langston. It felt like I was at home from home. I don’t feel judged, it’s like we understood where we came from,” Shania previously told reporters.
Now the teen has taken her talent to grad school, currently working on a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, already earning a 4.0 GPA for her first semester.
