The residency begins on the heels of hip-hop’s 50th Anniversary!
In a pioneering move for the world of hip-hop, the iconic Wu-Tang Clan has announced its upcoming Las Vegas residency, set to begin in February at the Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. This residency marks a historic moment, as Wu-Tang Clan becomes the first hip-hop act to grace the stages of Las Vegas in such a capacity, Los Angeles Times reports.
The residency, aptly titled “Wu-Tang Clan: The Saga Continues,” seems to play on the name of the recently concluded biographical series, “Wu-Tang: An American Saga,” which aired its final episode earlier this year on Hulu. This clever nod to their biographical series suggests a continuation of their legacy, with Las Vegas serving as the next chapter in the Wu-Tang Clan’s saga.
The Theater at Virgin Hotels released a statement on Tuesday, expressing the significance of this event. “Wu-Tang Clan will take the stage on the heels of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop celebration,” the statement read. “This residency is more than a concert — it serves as a tribute to their prolific careers as individuals and as the most storied group in hip-hop history.”
The highly anticipated residency is scheduled to begin on February 9 and 10, just days before the Super Bowl at Allegiant Stadium on February 11. The Wu-Tang Clan will return to the stage for additional performances on March 22 and 23, coinciding with the first round of the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) Men’s basketball tournament.
