His agenda prioritizes public safety, economic growth, and ensuring everyone has access to quality healthcare!
The City of Montgomery announced that Steven L. Reed, Mayor of Montgomery, Alabama–the birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement–has become the president of the African American Mayors Association (AAMA).
The AAMA, founded in 2014, empowers Black mayors by providing a platform to share ideas and advocate for their communities. Under Mayor Reed’s leadership, the AAMA is poised to tackle critical issues like gun violence, affordable housing, and educational disparities. His focus on data-driven solutions and community engagement reflects his deep understanding of the challenges facing cities today.
Mayor Reed’s journey is inspiring. As the first Black mayor of Montgomery, he stands in the shadows of the historic bus boycott led by Rosa Parks. His upbringing in Alabama and education at Morehouse College and Vanderbilt University shaped him into a compassionate and innovative leader dedicated to progress.
Beyond the AAMA, Mayor Reed serves as a role model, especially for young Black Americans. His fight for a more equitable society reminds us that everyone has leadership potential and that positive change is possible.
We celebrate Mayor Reed’s achievement and recommit to building a brighter future for all communities!
