She deserves it!
Angel Reese has been having an incredible rookie season. Drafted No. 7 to the Chicago Sky, the former Bayou Barbie is making a name for herself in the windy city. This past week she made history as the first WNBA player to record a double-double in 10 consecutive games in a single season, CNN reports. She has also been embraced by legends and peers alike and is already flexing her business acumen, becoming the first co-owner of the new DC Power Football Club, a women’s soccer league set to debut this summer. Now Angel has upped the score again, recently being named a WNBA All-Star in her rookie season.
Reese learned the news just after the Sky’s victory against the Atlanta Dream. Reese was visibly emotional as she sat down for a post-game press conference.
“I’m just so happy. I know the work I put in coming into this league, so many people doubted me and didn’t think my game would translate…but I trusted the process, and I believed…It’s just a blessing. I can’t thank my teammates and my coaches enough for just believing in me,” Reese told reporters while wiping away tears.
She now joins the 12-player roster set to face off at the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game in Phoenix on July 20th. The full lineup includes Reese, Caitlin Clark, 9x All-Star Nneka Ogwumike (Seattle Storm), 6x All-Star DeWanna Bonner (Connecticut Sun), Aliyah Boston (Indiana Fever), Kelsey Mitchell (Indiana Fever), Brionna Jones (Connecticut Sun), Allisha Gray (Atlanta Dream), Dearica Hamby (Los Angeles Sparks), Jonquel Jones (New York Liberty), Kayla McBride (Minnesota Lynx), and Arike Ogunbowale (Dallas Wings).
“We’ll be on the same team and at least have each other. It shows the talent we have … the future is bright,” Clark told reporters.
