Cierra Gross is a veteran human resources (HR) professional whose own experience with workplace trauma forced her into a crossroads in her career, ABC 27.com reports. After experiencing racism and toxic stereotyping, the last straw was a denied promotion that set Gross on a trajectory she’d never imagined.
“The only reason I survived that situation and forced an outcome that worked for me is that I am a subject matter expert in HR. I understand the rules and hold companies accountable for breaking them, but most employees don’t. I could not accept knowing that people across the country were experiencing this, so I set out to disrupt the HR industry,” Gross said in a statement via her website.
The result was Worklution Inc., a start-up launched by Gross that she called the “future of work solutions.” Dedicated to empowering employees and transforming workplace dynamics, the company launched its flagship brand, Caged Bird HR, becoming the first-ever HR services company to offer independent HR support directly to employees. Taking an employee-centric approach, Caged Bird HR eliminates the bias that sometimes exists in company HR departments by providing competent and reliable third-party experts for employees.
Now, Gross has returned with her second offering, an AI tech platform called “Wrk Receipts,” that will completely revolutionize the world of HR. Wrk Receipts is a new app that helps empower employees by allowing them to easily log workplace events and categorize them as positive, neutral, or challenging, utilizing text, images, or voice notes.
The “receipts” are securely stored and documented through HR-approved templates. They can be shared directly with trusted third parties, including mental health professionals, legal counsel, and/or HR representatives. The platform also has a built-in employee advocate, “Jayla,” which analyzes receipts and offers real-time support to employees based on company policies and employment laws, all while recommending next steps to help employees navigate workplace issues.

The platform has five key features, including AI-powered professional guidance, professional and user-friendly templates, secure storage and record keeping, access to Human HR consultants through Caged Bird HR, and predictive insights using AI to identify and proactively tackle workplace issues before they escalate. The goal is to change the landscape of HR, create positive change in the industry, and utilize data from the app to help enable a more profound understanding of toxic and/or positive workplace trends that can lead to more equitable environments.
