She’s making sure our kids see themselves in the stories!

Singer/songwriter Kelis has been captivating fans all year with her travels throughout Africa. The Bounty & Full owner has been creating content all year as she explores farming practices, spices, and the wonders of Africa, exploring countries like Tanzania, Kenya, Zanzibar, and Rwanda. Now, the singer and entrepreneur has launched a new children’s book, Seven Wonders of Africa, inspired by her journey.

“While I’ve been out here, I was inspired. I want our children to see how beautiful this continent is. You guys have seen me traveling throughout East Africa; you’ve seen my journey. I’ve been everywhere, and I loved every second of it. My kids are out here with me, and as we were seeing these beautiful wonders of Africa, I wanted to share,” Kelis said in a video.

The new book explores the travels of the character Abel Sabbath Brown as he explores the continent, from the pyramids of Egypt to the jungles of Rwanda. Kelis has published the book under her new company, “Make It Brown,” which is focused on telling stories that center underrepresented communities. The new book has vivid illustrations and shares the original names of many historical landmarks around the continent while also exploring the great migration and allowing children to learn about Africa in a way they can understand.  You can purchase Seven Wonders of Africa in hard copy, digital copy, or audiobook version.
