Simone Biles wrote the foreword!
Olympic gold medalist Jordan Chiles is set to release a new memoir detailing her Team USA journey, People reports. Chiles rose to prominence as a gymnast when she joined the team in 2013, recalling her trials and triumphs as an Olympic gymnast. “I’m That Girl: Living The Power Of My Dreams” is a candid offering from Chiles, who touches on everything from the “psychologically and physically demanding” aspects of the sport to the racism she experienced and her struggles with “eating issues” as a child.
“This one has been so hard to keep quiet! I’m beyond excited to share that my book, [“I’m That Girl: Living The Power Of My Dreams,”] is dropping…It’s all in here – the highs, the lows, the untold stories, and the moments that shaped me into who I am today. This is for anyone chasing their dreams, owning their confidence, and embracing their true self unapologetically,” Chiles captioned a social media post about the new memoir.
The book also recalls Chiles’ experience of being stripped of her bronze medal during the 2024 Paris Olympics. Chiles originally finished in fifth place, but her coach filed an appeal, citing a scoring error that earned her a bronze medal. But the Court of Arbitration deliberated a week later following an appeal by Romanian gymnasts, arguing that Chiles’ appeal came four seconds too late and she was ordered to return her medal. Chiles called the moment “one of the most challenging” in her career and received widespread support from her fans and teammates.
One teammate, Simone Biles, showed unwavering support for Chiles during the ordeal and wrote the foreword for her new memoir, touted as a “tribute to the power of perseverance.” The new memoir will be published next spring under Harper Influence, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers.
“From the moment I met Jordan Chiles, months before the 2024 Summer Olympics, I was impressed with her heart, her authenticity, her enthusiasm and her powerful storytelling. Jordan is a role model for people of all ages no matter where they have come from, proving that greatness is possible if you stay true to yourself,” said Lisa Sharkey, Harper Influence Senior Vice President and Publisher.
“I’m That Girl: Living The Power Of My Dreams” will be published on March 4, 2025, and is currently available for preorder wherever books are sold.
