They’re doubling down on their commitment to liberation!
A coalition of changemakers and thought leaders are set to converge in Washington, D.C., for the Peace Ball, an annual event dedicated to celebrating the collective efforts of those who work daily for equality, peace, and justice. This year’s 2025 Peace Ball: Voices of Justice and Liberation comes on the eve of a pivotal time in American history as the incoming administration prepares to take office. Still, the Peace Ball emphasizes the importance of not focusing on a single political moment or election cycle but reminding everyone that the struggle for justice is continuous and transcends political timelines. First launched in 2017, the event has now become the largest gathering for progressives annually. The Peace Ball serves as an opportunity to reflect on the work being done daily and recommit to forging forward to create freedom and opportunity for all.
“The Peace Ball is not about celebrating a single moment; it is about celebrating the movement for justice, which continues every day. The work does not end after an election. In these uncertain times, we come together to recommit ourselves to the fight for justice, to protect our communities, and to hold space for voices of resistance. We will never rest until justice comes,” said Peace Ball organizer and Busboys and Poets founder Andy Shallal.
This year’s Peace Ball will feature a remarkable lineup of speakers, including activists, authors, and lawmakers who have made lasting impacts in their respective fields. From legendary activist Angela Davis and poet Sonia Sanchez to leading scholar and How to Be an Antiracist author Ibram X. Kendi, these influential voices will unite in their call for a world grounded in justice and equity. Also joining will be Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Color Purple, Alice Walker, playwright and gender justice advocate V (formerly Eve Ensler), Democracy Now! host Amy Goodman, and Congresswomen Rashida Tlaib, Cori Bush, and Ilhan Omar, who will speak to the importance of the justice movement.
Attendees will come together to party with a purpose, featuring outstanding performances from artists, including “Sweet Honey in the Rock” and “Farafina Kan,” as well as food, music, and of course, dancing. The annual Peace Ball serves to reenergize the work and create a call to action for those looking to serve and support the most vulnerable and underserved populations in America. Committed to pushing a future where freedom and peace are not just ideals but lived realities, this powerful coalition of activists is coming together to set the tone for the next four years and beyond.
“The Peace Ball is about looking forward – not backward…This year, we gather to lift up the voices that continue to lead the charge for justice and liberation across the globe, beyond any political cycle,” organizers said via press release.
The 2025 Peace Ball: Voices of Justice and Liberation will take place on January 18, 2025, at the Mead Center for American Theater in Washington, D.C. To get your tickets, click HERE.
