They’re giving users a chance at ownership in the social media sector!

SPILL, the next-generation social media platform that is redefining how culture is shared and created, is inviting the community to invest in its future. On Monday, March 10th, SPILL launched an equity crowdfunding round, giving people the opportunity to own a piece of the platform and play a role in shaping the future of online conversations.

Launched in June 2023 by former Twitter employee Alphonzo Terrell, SPILL aimed to create a more inclusive and safe space in the world of social media. Already, SPILL has made significant strides since its inception. With over 500,000 downloads and more than $5 million in funding from venture capital firms like MaC Venture Capital and celebrities like Kerry Washington, the platform has proven that there is a demand for a social space that values culture and community.

SPILL recently crossed $1 million in annualized revenue, demonstrating its strength as a growing digital force. SPILL’s dedication to enhancing the user experience has resulted in over 25 new feature builds in 2024 alone. From gaming features like Spades, which has already racked up over half a million minutes of gameplay, to AI-powered content moderation and gender pronoun identification, the platform is continuously innovating. As social media companies roll back safeguards and diversity measures, SPILL is doing the opposite—prioritizing inclusion, safety, and creative expression. The platform is committed to ensuring that the cultural architects of the internet—the ones who set the trends but are often overlooked—have a space that acknowledges and amplifies their voices.

Now, with the new crowdfunding round, users can secure equity in the platform with a minimum investment of just $250. The goal is to make the crowdfunding round accessible and easy, with investors receiving exclusive benefits, including SPILL Investor Profile Badges, early access to new features, first looks at company updates, invites to exclusive events, and company merch. Since launching the investment round on March 10th, users have already invested nearly $300,000.

“We’re building SPILL to be more than a successful business—it’s a movement proving that platforms thrive when they put safety, culture, and real people first,” said Terrell, founder and CEO of SPILL. “This crowd round is a unique opportunity to co-own the future of social media and help create the vibrant, inclusive spaces that our culture needs now more than ever.”

SPILL continues to be a go-to platform for those looking for a more joyful, culturally rich, and inclusive social media experience. Given the current social climate, platforms like SPILL are raking up new users looking for safer digital spaces to socialize. Between Q3 and Q4 of 2024, signups increased by an incredible 282%, and January 2025 marked SPILL’s strongest month of user growth since its launch. On the business side, SPILL is projected to generate more revenue in Q1 2025 than it did in the whole of 2024, showing that advertisers are taking notice and investing in the platform’s engaged and influential audience. As part of SPILL’s continued expansion, Kenya Parham, formerly VP of Community and Partnerships, has been promoted to Chief Growth Officer. With a passion for fostering authentic community engagement, Parham will continue to lead the charge in ensuring that SPILL remains the premier space for cultural conversations and digital expression.

SPILL is a visual conversation app where users—affectionately known as Spillionaires—can add 90 characters of text to an image, GIF, or video to spark meaningful discussions. The platform allows people to share, quote, and comment on Spills, and its Spillboard makes it easy to discover trending conversations from around the world. Users can also engage in live discussions, play various games, and join digital Tea Parties.
