We’re so proud of her!
Amanda Gorman is set to perform at the Super Bowl 55 pregame show, Sports Illustrated reports.
Gorman was recently thrust into the spotlight after making history as the youngest poet to ever perform at a Presidential inauguration. Her original piece, “The Hill We Climb,” stunned viewers, garnering a new flock of “Amanda stans” and earning her a partnership with IMG models. The NFL has tapped the 22-year-old poet to perform at the Super Bowl 55 pregame show, the first poet to have this honor.
1/2 Humbled to be the first poet to perform at the Super Bowl! I’m so excited to place poetry at the forefront of the most watched U.S. television broadcast, & to honor 3 heroes of the coronavirus pandemic. Can’t wait for the world to hear their stories! https://t.co/UBLqZhZpTA

Her poem will highlight three honorary game captains, including Los Angeles teacher Trimaine Davis, Tampa nurse Suzie Dorner, and Marine veteran James Martin. The 2017 National Youth Poet Laureate, Gorman’s work has brought significant awards and acclaim from all over the globe. Forever President Barack Obama even shouted the L.A. native out after the inauguration, taking to social media to give her praise.
“On a day for the history books, @TheAmandaGorman delivered a poem that more than met the moment. Young people like her are proof that ‘there is always light if only we’re brave enough to see it; if only we’re brave enough to be it,’” Obama wrote, quoting a line from Gorman’s poem.
