They’re adding a hometown touch to the big night!
In about a year, Super Bowl LIX will be coming to New Orleans and the planning and preparation is already underway, including making the logo for the big game. For the first time in history, the NFL partnered with a local artist to design a Super Bowl logo. Louisana artist, Tahj Williams, was more than ready for the creative job of a lifetime.
For the first time ever, the NFL collaborated with a local artist on the creation of a Super Bowl logo.
The artist who created our new logo, Tahj Williams, is the queen of her Black Masking Indian tribe in New Orleans, the home of Super Bowl LIX.

Williams is the “queen of her Black Masking Indian tribe in New Orleans,” according to the NFL, and she created an intricately beaded, colorful work of art that displays the Super Bowl number and the Vince Lombardi trophy. Also featured in the logo is a fleur de lis, a cultural symbol for the city of New Orleans.
Williams is a traditional beadwork specialist and is known as “Queen Tajh” in her New Orleans community of Black Masking Indians, or African Americans who dress in attire inspired by Native garb and ceremonial apparel for Mardis Gras celebrations. The Black Masking Indian tradition dates back to the 19th century, as a way for Black New Orleans to pay homage to the Native Americans who assisted them in escaping slavery. Williams’ vibrant logo honors this tradition while also celebrating the history of the vibrant Crescent City.
The Super Bowl logo and art have been a source of controversy in recent years with some conspiracy theorists speculating that the colors of the logo predict the two teams that will face off in the big game. Fans may have a hard time guessing this year, however, as Williams’ work of art features an array of colors that could correspond to a great many NFL teams including shades of orange, purple, bright green and silver.
Super Bowl LIX will be played at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Feb. 9, 2025. It’ll be the record-tying 11th year that New Orleans will host a Super Bowl game.
