Hyundai is living by the slogan “Progress for Humanity,” with their recent appointment of Randy Parker as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hyundai Motor America (HMA). He is one of the first African-Americans to lead a major Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) regional market.
President and CEO of Hyundai Motor North America, José Muñoz shared a few words, “Randy is the perfect person to continue Hyundai’s recent successes in sales, market share, and growth in the U.S.,” “I have no doubt that he will continue to strengthen the full Hyundai team and our dealer network.”
During his tenure at HMA, Parker has had a list of successes. In 2019, he was named vice president of national sales and in 2021 he moved up to senior vice president. He was also named on the Automotive News All-Star list and Automotive Hall of Fame this year. According to a release in PRNewswire, Parker has boosted Hyundai sales and has increased the retail market share by 31%, since 2020.
In an interview Parker spoke about his new position saying “Hyundai has an incredible team assembled by José and our Korean leadership.” He continued, “I am humbled and honored by the opportunity to lead this organization and continue the success of the past few years.”
Parker boasts thirty years of automotive industry experience working with various companies such as Infiniti, Nissan, General Motors, and Acceptance Corporation. He received his Bachelor of Science from Texas Christian University and went on to complete higher education programs at Harvard and Penn State.
He credits his hard work and determination to his parents and says he lives by the maxim,” If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
