Give him his flowers!
Capitol Police officer Eugene Goodman was captured on video solo-dolo fending off a mob of white insurrectionists who breached the Capitol on January 6th, the New York Times reports. As the mob got closer to the Senate chambers, Goodman guided them away from the unguarded doors where Senators were hiding, using himself as a human diversion to lure them directly into police custody.

Now, Goodman is being hailed as a superhero, recently being promoted to No. 2 security official in the Senate for inaugural events. His quick thinking helped prevent domestic terrorists from harming Senators and gave lawmakers time to evacuate. After the Capitol attack, top security officials, including the House and Senate sergeants-at-arms, both resigned. Goodman is now acting deputy Senate sergeant-at-arms.
