Lawyer, minister, and the youngest child of civil rights leaders Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King, @BerniceKing was only five years old when her father was assassinated.
Dr. Bernice A. King is a global thought leader, orator, peace advocate, and CEO of the King Center. King curated a list of free and accessible Martin Luther King Jr. readings and speeches. King urges us to reflect, honor, and most importantly [enact], MLK’s teachings in their full context.
Today she shares,
“Dear politicians/political influencers:
When you evoke my father this #MLKDay, remember that he was resolute about eradicating racism, poverty, and militarism. And about corrective justice work.
Don’t just quote him.
Encourage and enact policies that reflect his teachings.”
🧵 ~#MLKDay Eve Reading/Listening~
I invite everyone to read and/or listen to my father’s words this evening before posting tomorrow.
