Grammy-nominated singer and new mom Halle Bailey is using her platform to champion an important cause: maternal mental health.
Bailey recently announced her partnership with Natural Cycles, the makers of the first birth control app, for their new campaign, “Is Mommy Okay?”. The campaign sheds light on the challenges faced by mothers in the postpartum period, a time often romanticized but which can be fraught with emotional and physical difficulties. Bailey, who recently welcomed a son, Halo, with rapper DDG, is opening up about her own experiences in a bid to normalize the conversation and empower other mothers.
“As a new mommy, I’ve been so focused on this new journey of learning about the woman I am now and getting the proper support and help I need,” Bailey shared on her Instagram. She emphasizes the societal need to prioritize maternal well-being, stating, “We have to start taking better care of moms. Give moms some grace.”
“Is Mommy Okay?” aims to break down the isolation many mothers feel during postpartum. The campaign highlights the importance of self-care and seeking support. Natural Cycles isn’t just lending its name to the cause. The company recently launched a new feature within its app specifically designed for postpartum mothers.
Halle Bailey’s powerful message of solidarity–and the resources offered by Natural Cycles–encourages open dialogue to ensure that no mother feels alone in her struggles. Watch the full ad below:
