She has the Midas touch!
Actress and entertainment mogul Issa Rae just announced her newest HBO project, a documentary centered around the history of Black television, NBC News reports.
Rae is slated to executive produce a new two-part documentary entitled “Seen & Heard,” focused on the history of Black television. The documentary will feature archival footage and interviews with actors, writers, showrunner and celebrities past and present deep diving into their history with Black television as well as their memories of African American representation on TV. Phil Bertelsen (Who Killed Malcolm X?) is set to direct the documentary alongside Montrel McKay, President, Development & Production at Issa Rae Productions, 3 Arts Entertainment and Ark Media.
“Black people have such a rich, but often unacknowledged history in Hollywood. We have defined American culture and influenced generations time and time again across the globe. I’m honored to pair with Ark Media to center and celebrate the achievements of those who paved a way for so many of us to tell our stories on television,” Rae said.
In addition to the “Seen & Heard” documentary, Rae also is set to star in HBO’s “Coastal Elites,” a special about politics and culture in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic set to air September 12th.
We can’t wait for this to air Issa! Congratulations!
