Actress Kerry Washington is set to be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. An Emmy-winning producer with a career spanning three decades, Washington has earned numerous accolades throughout the years and broken barriers with her work in the ABC hit TV series Scandal, as the first Black woman since 1974 to headline a network TV drama, the Hollywood Walk of Fame reports. Now Washington is set to be honored with a Walk of Fame star, commemorating her undeniable impact on the industry and cementing her legacy in Hollywood.
“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is honored to welcome actress Kerry Washington to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her extraordinary talent and dedication to her craft have not only made her a beloved actress, but also an inspiration to many. Honoring her with this special award is a celebration of her remarkable contribution to the world of entertainment,” said Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony producer Ana Martinez.
The Bronx native will receive the 2,796th star on the Walk of Fame with special attendees to include Tyler Perry and Shonda Rhimes. In addition to her work on screen, Washington is also the founder of Simpson Street productions, which brought American Son to Netflix and Little Fires Everywhere to Hulu, both of which earned Washington Emmy nominations. Washington’s Walk of Fame Class of 2024 honor comes on the heels of her debut memoir Thicker than Water, which earned a spot on the New York Times Bestseller list when it was released in 2023. The year prior, Washington was named one of TIME Magazine’s Women of The Year. She currently stars on Hulu’s UnPrisoned comedy series alongside veteran actor Delroy Lindo and is set to star in Tyler Perry’s upcoming The Six Triple Eight film to be released on Netflix this December.
Washington will receive her well-deserved Hollywood Walk of Fame star at a ceremony to be held on Monday, December 2, at 11:30 am PT at 6258 Hollywood Boulevard. To stream the event visit www.walkoffame.com.
