The Hollywood Bowl has announced a roar-some way to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Disney’s beloved classic, The Lion King.
Remember the iconic song, “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” in which a young Simba dreams of his future reign? That unforgettable voice belonged to none other than Jason Weaver! Now, Weaver is set to reunite with the beloved Disney classic for a special 30th-anniversary live-to-film concert event at the Hollywood Bowl.
The unforgettable call of “Nants ingonyama bagithi baba” will echo through the Hollywood Bowl this May in a concert unlike any other! Disney’s The Lion King 30th Anniversary: A Live-to-Film Concert Event celebrates the beloved classic film with a star-studded line-up that honors the enduring legacy of the classic animated film.
This immersive experience will feature the original 1994 film playing on giant screens, accompanied by a live orchestra and fireworks. Award-winning music from the film will come to life with showstopping vocal performances. Joining Weaver will be cast members from the 1994 animated film, as well as the 2019 live-action remake: Billy Eichner, Bradley Gibson, Ernie Sabella, Jeremy Irons, and Nathan Lane.
EGOT winner Jennifer Hudson has been announced as a special guest, making this a night to remember for Lion King fans of all ages. This unforgettable night will also include–for the very first time at the Hollywood Bowl–select performances from the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical adaptation!
Tickets for the event can be purchased here. While no release date has been announced for the film, previous shows of this kind (like Encanto’s live-to-film concert event) are streaming on DisneyPlus.
