Keeping it in the family.
Michael Jackson will be celebrated in the biopic, “Michael,” which is being released on April 18, 2025. The best part? It’s going to star the late singer’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson, in his first major role.

According to Variety, Lionsgate will release the movie domestically, and Universal will handle overseas distribution. The film will begin production on Jan. 22 and will be directed by Antoine Fuqua, produced by “Bohemian Rhapsody’s” Graham King, and written by John Logan.
The official synopsis for the film reads, “‘Michael’ will bring audiences a riveting and honest portrayal of the brilliant yet complicated man who became the King of Pop. The film presents his triumphs and tragedies on an epic, cinematic scale — from his human side and personal struggles to his undeniable creative genius, exemplified by his most iconic performances. As never before, audiences will experience an inside look into one of the most influential, trailblazing artists the world has ever known.”
Some people may be wondering how the film will tackle the singer’s multiple allegations of sexual abuse. The co-executors of Michael Jackson‘s estate, John Branca and John McClain, will also produce the film, so it’s anticipated that it will show Michael Jackson in a positive light. Despite the allegations, the late star denied the child sexual abuse, and he was found not guilty of child molestation in 2003.
Michael Jackson passed away in 2009 at the age of 50.
