The show is ending with a bang!
Michelle Obama is set to star in the final season of “black-ish,” NewsOne reports.
Kenya Barris’ award-winning sitcom “Black-ish” is finally coming to a close. Barris took to Instagram to confirm that Season 8 would be the last this past May.
“In this day and age, it is rare to get to decide when your show should come to an end, and we are grateful along with ABC to be able to make this final season exactly what we’d hoped for – and to do it with the entire and amazingly stellar cast coming back to close this chapter out with us the right way,” he wrote.
Now, Forever First Lady Michelle Obama has announced that she will be joining the cast for its final go-round, making an appearance on one of the episodes. While few details have been shared about the cameo role, the entire cast will be joining her, including Tracee Ellis Ross, Anthony Anderson, Marcus Scribner, Miles Brown, Marsai Martin, Laurence Fishburne, Jenifer Lewis, Katlyn Nichol, and Yara Shahidi, the star of the spinoff series “Grown-ish.”
“I’ve long been a fan of @BlackishABC’s wit and all-around brilliance, and it was such a thrill to join in for an episode. I can’t wait for you all to see it,” Obama tweeted.
There is no word yet on when Season 8 will release, but it is expected to air in early 2022.
Congratulations to the entire cast of “black-ish,” Mrs. Obama included!
