She’s dropping gems!
Music icon Tina Turner just released a new book guaranteed to help change your life for good, The Glow Up reports.
A global phenomenon, at age 81, Tina Turner has lived most of her adult life in the public eye. From her humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee, to her struggles including abuse, bankruptcy, and a suicide attempt, there isn’t too much of her life Turner hasn’t been willing to uncover. In her new book, Happiness Becomes You: A Guide to Changing Your Life for Good, she’s sharing the secret to how she overcame – Buddhism, an ancient religious practice that Turner said helped save her life.
“I’m a survivor by nature, but I’ve had help, and I don’t mean success, or money, although I’ve been blessed with both. The help that has been essential to my well-being, my joy, and my resilience is my spiritual life,” Turner told Vanity Fair.
The book, published by Simon & Schuster, focuses on Turner’s role as a “global icon of inspiration.” In her new guide, she gives wisdom and empowering spiritual tools to help enrich our lives and “[show] how anyone can overcome life’s obstacles, transform the ‘impossible’ to possible, and fulfill our dreams.”
In 1973, Turner discovered Buddhism, utilizing the teachings as a balm amid every storm she encountered, from financial hardships to her battle with cancer and her son Craig’s death in 2018. The wisdom Turner has learned, she’s encapsulated in this new book, her second of the year, with the hopes that it will provide peace in the storm for others as well.
“The world is experiencing more angst and instability than we’ve seen in a long time. When so many people are facing adversity, I want to share the ways I increased my positivity and overcame every obstacle in my life, even the most impossible circumstances I faced. I know if I can do it, everyone who reads Happiness Becomes You can do it too,” said Turner.
Turner said the book is not designed to convert people to Buddhism but rather to share the universal teachings and principles that she feels will resonate with everyone.
“In every crisis, frustration, or disaster is also the potential to learn, to grow, and to propel ourselves toward greater heights of wisdom and fulfillment than ever before. Real happiness is indestructible and does not depend on material circumstances, which constantly change. Real happiness starts with the conviction that being alive is itself a joy. And we already have within us everything we need to tap into this potential…Everyone has this ability, and I’m excited to share in this book exactly how to discover it,” said Turner.
