Fox Television just announced its new streaming platform, Fox Soul, a live and interactive channel dedicated to African American viewers, Black Enterprise reports.
The new streaming channel will be free and feature blocks of live original programming from 6pm to 10pm followed by two hour reruns from the network’s 28 television stations. Fox Soul seeks to celebrate Black culture and will address real topics that impact the lives of the African American community. The new app will also give subscribers access to on demand programming.
James Dubose, head of programming and executive producer for Fox Soul, issued a press release about the new app saying, “We are proud to debut this African American focused channel, created by and for the members of the Black community. We intend to inform, inspire, and empower our viewers by meeting their needs for authentic conversations on topics relevant to our lives.”
The app will also feature a number of talk shows, including one featuring singer Keyshia Cole and another talk show dedicated to dating, beauty and relationships hosted by reality TV star Claudia Jordan. Street Soldiers with Lisa Evers, a former syndicated radio show program on HOT 97 dedicated to the hip hop community will also air on the new channel.
Tammi Mac, radio personality and host of The Tammi Mac Late Show on Fox Soul said she is excited about the channel and the content that will come from it. “ Fox Soul slaps down misnomers about our people and celebrates our culture and our excellence. I could not have asked for a better platform to speak greatness about and into my community. I’m confident our content will live up to its purpose and tagline, ‘Our Voice, Our Truth,’” Mac said.
Fox Soul is available for download on all iPhone, Android, Apple TV, and FireTV devices. You can also go to foxsoul.tv.
