At just four-years-old Parker Curry is living her best life. Last year when her viral photo staring at Amy Sherald’s painting of Michelle Obama went viral, the moment helped define the immense impact and admiration we feel for our forever first lady. Now Parker and her mom have made sure others can read about it for years to come in their new book children’s book entitled Parker Looks Up.
In an interview with ESSENCE, Parker’s mom and co-author Jessica Curry, shared her dream for their new book.
“Parker’s every day moment became an extraordinary one, and my sincerest hope is that our book will continue to resonate that moment’s power and promise, its hopes and dreams, its inspiration and indelible impact with Parker, her generation and generations to follow,” Curry said.
After this we can officially refer to Parker as Michelle Obama’s mini-BFF. From meeting and dancing with her soon after the photo spread, to dressing as her for Halloween, to making an appearance via video in her sold-out Becoming tour, to now helping other children understand what it means to look up to the country’s first African-American first lady. Like the photo, and their encounters, the book is sure to inspire kids and adults alike.
You can pre-order your copy of Parker Looks Up here. It releases in bookstores on October 15.
