She’s just getting started!
Regina King is set to produce a Black supernatural drama series for The CW, Shadow and Act reports.
Slay is the newest series from the Oscar winner. The story centers around Carson Jones, a typical hipster teen blessed with supernatural gifts through her mother’s ancient African bloodline. She is tasked with protecting Virginia’s Historic Triangle, one of the nation’s most haunted areas.
King is executive producing the series alongside her sister, Reina King, under their Royal Ties Productions banner. They’ve teamed up with Pam Veasey and Julian Johnson, who are screenwriting and executive producing. Veasey and King have worked together before for the ABC pilot The Finest, starring Tisha Campbell and Amirah Vann.
Fresh off her Emmy victory for Watchmen, acknowledgment as one of Glamour Mag’s 2020 “Women of the Year”, and historic directorial debut of One Night in Miami, King is revving up for the second act in her legendary career. No word yet on when Slay will air, but we look forward to seeing what she does next!
Congratulations, Regina!
