We love celebrities who give back!
Superstar Robyn “Rihanna” Fenty made a $5 million donation to help relief efforts associated with the Coronavirus, Black Enterprise reports.
Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation has regularly been on the frontlines of relief efforts, providing resources to assist in natural disasters. The foundation released a statement about the donation saying, “ When we first began this year, never could we have imagined how COVID-19 would so dramatically alter our lives. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from, this pandemic will affect us all. And for the world’s most vulnerable, the worst may be yet to come.”
The $5 million will be given to several organizations who are working on the frontlines to stop the spread of the virus. Feeding America, Direct Relief, Partners In Health, The World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, and the International Rescue Committee are among the organizations receiving direct assistance.
The foundation said donations will go towards local food banks serving underserved communities and seniors, testing and care in countries like Haiti and Malawi and support for Native communities, equipment for health care workers, vaccine development, healthcare worker training, and distribution of critical respiratory supplies, just to name a few.
