4x Grammy Award-winning artist SZA, a former gymnast herself, recently had a unique opportunity to sit down with Simone Biles, the most decorated American gymnast ever. Their shared love for the sport created a bond that was palpable, with SZA admitting she was downright giddy over the meet-up!
“This is my dream to talk to you. I’m not even kidding. I was so hyped because you are like my wildest dream,” the singer told Biles.
The two embraced before sitting down to discuss how they both came to love gymnastics. Biles also wanted to know what made SZA pursue a career as an artist instead.
“When it was clear to me that I wasn’t going to be a national gymnast, I was like, ‘Ok, let me see what [else] I can do,’ and I needed something to be competitive at,” revealed SZA.
The two sang each other’s praises some more before agreeing to an impromptu handstand contest. As SZA shook off the rust on her old moves, she showed that she’s still got it, even impressing Biles.
“Wait, that’s good!!!!,” Biles exclaimed while clapping.
It was a beautiful moment shared by two extraordinarily accomplished women, and just the Black Girl Magic culture clash we needed.
“I was SO honored to hang out with you. THIS FELT LIKE A FEVER DREAM. Good luck at your THIRD Olympic Games!,” SZA captioned the video.
