Grammy-nominated singer, Victoria Monét is stepping into music’s biggest week with a meaningful initiative.

Teaming up with the Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC), Monét is launching the BMAC x Victoria Monét Music Maker Grant, Black Enterprise reports. The grant was officially announced at BMAC’s Grammy Week Music Maker Dinner on January 31st. This collaborative effort aims to support rising Black talent in the music industry by providing a $5,000 grant, mentorship opportunities, and direct engagement with Monét for guidance on their career paths. The initiative aligns with BMAC’s broader mission to address systemic racism in the music industry through various grant initiatives, including The Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis Music Maker Grant and BMAC Ernie Panicciolo Music Photojournalism Grant & Celebration Event.

The grant is a significant step toward breaking down barriers to entry for the Black community in the music industry. Through initiatives like these, BMAC hopes to create a more equal playing field, fostering an environment where talent can thrive regardless of background. “We are honored to partner with Victoria Monét to uplift a young and deserving Black artist and help further their dreams within the music industry,” Willie “Prophet” Stiggers, BMAC co-founder, president, and CEO says.

The announcement comes at a pivotal moment for Monét, who is on the cusp of a potentially momentous night at the Grammys, where she is nominated for seven awards, including Best New Artist and Record of the Year for her 2023 release “Jaguar II.” Her 2-year-old daughter, Hazel Monét is also making history as the youngest person to be nominated for a Grammy after being featured on her mom’s album. Monét’s career includes significant contributions to the music scene, not only as a solo artist but also as a songwriter. Before achieving solo success, she penned chart-topping hits for artists like Ariana Grande and Fifth Harmony. Her 2023 album, “Jaguar II,” garnered critical acclaim, showcasing her versatility and artistry.
