There’s a new pizza shop in town!

Sebastian Wilson is an 11-year-old restaurateur who just opened a new pizzeria in Brooklyn, Blavity reports. Inspired by traditional West Indian recipes, Sebastian credits his mom and stepfather, originally from Trinidad and Grenada, with inspiring him to become an entrepreneur

“My mom works a lot, and I want to work a lot so I could, like, get my own money. My parents are hard workers, and I just want to be a hard worker like them,” he told reporters.

Sebastian’s Spices and Slices just recently opened in the Little Caribbean neighborhood of Flatbush. The shop features unique pizza recipes inspired by his family’s homemade oxtail, jerk chicken, and saltfish. Sebastian fell in love with pizza when he was just 3-years-old. When he turned 10, his parents invested in his first business. For now, he helps out with the pizza-making and chores necessary for the shop. The goal is for him to eventually take over full-time when he’s over. Currently, he works as much as he can legally while brainstorming the store’s design and other brand ideas that could help the shop.

“I kind of want to be there with him, and obviously, there’s a time I’ll have to let go, but I’m trying to provide the things that maybe my parents provided for me and more,” said Sebastian’s mother, Natalie Lamming.

The rising middle-schooler says he hopes his restaurant can inspire other children his age to go after their dreams.

“It doesn’t matter what age you are. You can still have your dreams come true,” Sebastian explained.

The newly opened Sebastian’s Spices and Slices is located at 1828 Nostrand Ave. in Brooklyn.
