She’s getting her flowers early!
Blue Ivy Carter won big at the 2021 Voice Arts Awards for her “Hair Love” audiobook narration, Rolling Out reports.
The 9-year-old daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z recently added another award to her repertoire, taking home the award for Best Voiceover – Children’s Audiobook at the 2021 Voice Arts Awards. She received the award for her audiobook narration of the popular book Hair Love by Matthew A. Cherry.
The book tells the story of an African American father by the name of Stephen who is learning to style his daughter Zuri’s hair. Cherry also released an animated short to accompany the film that debuted in theaters alongside Angry Birds 2, eventually winning an Oscar for best animated short film.
For Blue, this is not her first major award. In March 2021, she won a Grammy Award for Best Music Video, receiving a writing credit for her mother’s song “Brown Skin Girl” and making history as the second youngest artist to win a Grammy.
Blue’s grandmother, Tina Lawson, took to social media to share the news and her excitement, writing, “Congrats my Blue. You killed this. It’s only the beginning! You are so talented! Grandma is beyond proud!!!”
Clearly Blue is following in her parents footsteps, already exhibiting all the makings of a young legend! Congratulations, Blue!
