They’re hoping to help the diaspora return home!
Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings, co-founders of the popular brand Earn Your Leisure, have partnered with fellow influencer and activist Chakabars, and developers Alvin Bekoe, Kwame Blay, and Tuyee Yeboah, to build a new 300-acre housing project in Accra, Ghana, Black Enterprise reports. The group announced the Sanbra City Project and received more than 300 potential buyers during their Investfest conference this year. The goal is to foster economic investment in Africa and create sustainable housing options that help Diasporans return home.
“Our vision is to create a sustainable and thriving community that not only addresses the housing deficit but also invites people from the diaspora to come home and invest in their future,” Blay said via statement.
The first phase of luxury homes called The Cascades broke ground in August 2024. Located just 15 minutes from the Kotoka International Airport, the community rests on 30 acres and features a number of amenities including a pool, sports facilities, bicycle lanes, a grocery store, and co-working spaces. The community features mixed-housing units with two-bedroom apartments starting at $180,000, four-bedroom townhomes priced from $275,000, and five-bedroom villas starting at $450,000.
The team is working with investment groups and Stanbic Bank Ghana and First National Bank to offer discounted mortgages for interested buyers. The goal is to help spur economic growth in Ghana while also providing modern housing that make those in the diaspora more interested in returning to Africa. The group now joins a number of notable figures spearheading real estate development in Africa for Diasporans interested in living on the continent including actor Idris Elba, artist Akon, and developer Max Maxwell.
