She’s still rooting for everybody Black!
When Issa Rae isn’t making history, gracing covers, landing deals, starting new business ventures or writing new shows, she’s creating opportunities for those coming up behind her!
The actress, producer, and comedian’s production company, Hoorae Media, teamed up with Walmart to launch a new program providing Black creators with all the tools they’ll need to step into their industries.
Hoorae Media was established in 2020. Just two years later, they’re already teaming up with Walmart to introduce a Black & Unlimited Digital Development Program. This program will send nine Black creators to Los Angeles to work closely with industry professionals. With this opportunity, they’ll receive a content creators kit, access to creator courses, mentorship, a $10,000 stipend, and be featured on Walmart’s YouTube channel (524k subscribers). Even Rae’s music label, Raedio, is contributing to the program by providing participants with access to a music library to create soundtracks for their videos.
Rae said in a statement, “Hoorae is proud to partner with Walmart to support Black creators as they share their content with new audiences. With the support of the Black & Unlimited Digital Development initiative, the selected creators will expand their brands and develop their voices in our underrepresented industry.”
The Black & Unlimited Digital Development Program has already chosen creators like Cam Sullivan Brown (_itsjust_camm), Chef Shaiheem (@thechefshaiheem), and Brelynn Hunt (@BrelynnHunt), whose work you can find on various online platforms. We’re looking forward to see who else will be headed to L.A.!
The upcoming content from these social media users is bound to go viral. Congratulations, creators!
