The producers of Ellen are behind it!
Jennifer Hudson is set to launch a new talk show this fall, Variety reports.
Fresh off of her historic EGOT status, Jennifer Hudson has announced a new venture, the multi-hyphenate creative is set to get her own talk show titled “The Jennifer Hudson Show.” Already cleared in more than 95% of the country, the show is slated for national syndication this fall and Hudson has Warner Bros. behind her and the production team responsible for “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” Hudson’s show will also be filmed on the former “Ellen” studio lot.
Hudson will serve as executive producer alongside former “Ellen” producers Mary Connelly, Andy Lassner, and Corey Palent who will all serve as Hudson’s showrunners. Both Connelly and Lassner have inked deals with Warner Bros Unscripted Television to create and produce various series for the studio. Additional executive producers include Lisa Kasteler Calio, Graehme Morphy, Walter Wiliams III, and co-executive producer Shani Black.
“I’ve worked with Mary, Andy, and Corey across multiple shows for the past nine years, and I’m thrilled that we’re able to keep them in the family because they are truly the best in the business. With Jennifer’s incredible talents, and the addition of Lisa, Graehme, Walter and Shani to be the producing team, I know this show is going to be fantastic and I’m excited for what’s to come,” said Mike Darnell, president of Warner Bros. Unscripted Television.
Darnell said he first met Hudson back when she was a contestant on “American Idol.” The executive said he knew Hudson would be a great talk show host and it was cemented during the pilot.
“I knew who she was, and she’s still a Chicago native who is down to earth, authentic, easy going and funny as hell. I knew we could translate that into a talk show…We did the pilot and I’ve got to tell you, she was great. I had not experienced that since I’ve been here.
“The Jennifer Hudson Show” is set to air September 12 on Fox TV.
