He shoots, he scores!
20 seasons in, Lebron James has officially scored the most points in NBA history. Last night, the Los Angeles Lakers had a rocking game at Crypto.com Arena against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The pressure was through the roof with questions of if James could score 38 points to break hall of famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s almost 40-year scoring record of 38,387, a historic feat which has been standing since 1984. James held his head high coming into this game and made sure he had all his support in the building: his children Lebron “Bronny” James Jr., Bryce, Zhuri, his wife Savannah, and last but certainly not least, his mother Gloria.
James started at a good pace, finishing the first half with 20 points. By late third quarter, he hit the mark with a step-back jumper and the crowd went insane! At that moment, Lebron James was the NBA’s new scoring leader, and the feat became an emotional moment.
Abdul-Jabbar was in attendance to pass the torch to James, which is a wonderful sight to see! Abdul-Jabbar told TNT, “LeBron’s career is one of someone who planned to dominate this game.” Abdul-Jabbar pointed out James’ leadership. “And it’s gone for almost 20 years now. You have to give him credit for just the way he played and for the way he’s lasted and dominated. He has that indefinable essence that they call leadership.”

Unfortunately, the Lakers didn’t finish with a win, but we all won! More history was made during Black History Month and many of our favorites, such as Michael Jordan and Denzel Washington, were there to witness it and congratulate James.
