He’s feeling good for a soon to be centenarian!
A legendary Florida high school coach is celebrating his 100th birthday with a drive-by parade, 11 Alive reports.
Eddie Shannon is a former Manatee High School coach and Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Hall of Famer. Shannon coached football in Florida for 34 years, helping promote integration in the sport during his heyday.

Shannon is also credited with helping send Ray Bellamy to the University of Miami. The wide receiver went on to make history as the first Black athlete to receive a scholarship, getting inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.
In honor of Shannon’s upcoming 100th birthday on March 7th, the Manatee High Alumni Association is hosting a drive-by parade in his honor. The parade will take place on March 5th, starting at 11am, with many expected to turnout for the hometown icon.

Shannon’s daughter said her father is excited and “feeling great,” in preparation for his milestone birthday. He plans to sit out in the front yard to witness the parade in his honor.
