With the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom approaching, I reflect and am eternally grateful for the labor and sacrifices of the men and women who marched and dedicated their lives to the fight for freedom and equality for all. Born in the 80’s, I am a beneficiary of the Civil Rights movement; groundwork that was being done on my behalf to ensure rights that many were denied, that I am able to exercise today. Because of Them, We Can…. Just as their work impacted me, their work and the work being done now, impacts the future generation. Here’s a look at the individuals and groups that we’ve featured thus far in the “Because of Them, We Can…” movement who were present on that historic day and heavily involved in the movement during that era.
The Because of Them, We Can movement was launched during Black History Month 2013 and has been continued every day since. May we always remember, be grateful and work towards equality for ALL.
