Brothers Giannis Antetokounmpo, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Kostas Antetokounmpo, and Alex Antetokounmpo have announced their recent investment in TGL’s Los Angeles Golf Club (LAGC), reports Golfweek.

The basketball superstar brothers have been committed to securing their family legacy in sports. Three of the five Nigerian-Greek siblings were drafted into the NBA — Giannis, Thanasis, and Kostas. Alex, the youngest of the basketball-playing brothers, most recently played for the Wisconsin Herd of the NBA G League. And their oldest brother, Francis, is a professional soccer player.

Of the four brothers in the NBA, three of them have secured NBA championship titles. Kostas won with the LA Lakers in 2020 and Thanasis and Giannis with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021.

And if their accolades on the court weren’t enough, Giannis, Thanasis, Kostas, and Alex took their game a step further when they became minority investors in the Major League Soccer club Nashville SC.

“My father was a professional soccer player, and it was the first sport I fell in love with in Greece. I’ve always had the dream of owning a soccer team. When my brothers and I explored Nashville SC, we knew it was a team and a city that we wanted to get involved with. I couldn’t be more excited to join the Boys in Gold and can’t wait to come to a match at GEODIS Park soon!,” Giannis said about the brothers decision to invest in the team.

Now the four brothers are back at it again, investing in the inaugural LAGC team started by Tiger Woods and Rory Mcllroy’s TGL golf league. A new tech-infused league, TGL hopes to infuse innovation into the game, featuring “18 players competing as three-person teams in a series of 18-hole matches.”

The Antetokounmpo brothers now join the team’s star-studded ownership group — which includes Venus Williams and Serena Williams, Serena’s husband Alexis Ohanian, and the couple’s daughters Olympia Ohanian Jr., and Adira River Ohanian. Olympia and Adira have made history themselves by being the youngest owners of two professional sports teams.

TGL has partnered with TMRW Sports and the PGA Tour for 15 regular season matches set to launch in January 2024. The brothers said they are excited to step out in this new frontier and hope to make their late father proud.

“We want to make golf our own and for everybody,” Thanasis said.

“I know [our dad would] be so proud of us today, that this is happening,” Thanasis added. “It’s not just the investment part of it. There’s a part of it that’s a legacy, that for us, it’s for generations to come that we’re part of this.”
