When you hear the nickname “BeastMode,” you may think of NFL player, Marshawn Lynch. However, Lynch’s entrepreneurial and philanthropic efforts have proven him to be much more than simply a talented athlete. He recently partnered with StreetCode Academy, an organization that provides free technology classes to kids, to create an interactive and informative coding tutorial called “BeastCode.”
As a caring advocate for empowering and educating youth, Lynch made an unexpected visit to Palo Alto-based StreetCode Academy last month. To celebrate his visit, they dubbed the day’s activities “BeastCode,” a merge of Lynch’s popular nickname and StreetCode. Lynch felt inspired by their vision to teach the next generation of innovators to create solutions for East Palo Alto and Lynch’s Oakland hometown communities. He assisted participating kids with building iOS and blockchain applications, electronic speakers, and other tech-savvy projects.

“It’s really not about what he does on the field . . . it’s about his selflessness and how much he cares,” says Khristopher “Squint” Sandifer, who is a founding member of BeastMode Productions, as well as StreetCode Academy. According to Blavity, more support was given to the event by Lynch’s Oakland-based nonprofit, Fam 1st Foundation and Trillicon Valley, a collective that focuses on links between youth culture, diversity, and the technology sector.
Lynch believes that giving youth access to tech and instruction around developing tech-related ideas will empower and inspire them to undoubtedly change the world.
We couldn’t agree more! Marshawn, thank you for continuously using your platform to invest in tomorrow’s leaders.
