A mother’s gotta do what a mother’s gotta do!
Jayden Daniels was the No. 2 overall draft pick for the Washington Commanders. A standout rookie having an impeccable season so far with the team, he signed a $37.75 million contract this past summer, and he’s been worth every single penny, with the Commanders currently holding a winning record of 7-2 in the season. But while Daniels has been showing off on the field, his mother, Regina Jackson, has been working on a power move of her own, recently becoming a certified agent in the NFL, CBS Sports reports.
“For her, taking the agent’s test is because she wants to be knowledgeable and helping her son and guiding him through his NFL career. It’s important for her to have all that knowledge so she can give her son guidance, which will help him focus on the field, and she can help focus off the field for him, said Denise White, a publicist who works with Jayden Daniels and his family.
Jackson holds an MBA in concentration entrepreneurship and a master’s in public services administration. Since Daniels was in college, she has been working toward becoming an agent to better help navigate her son’s career.
“I think any businessperson with the education that she’s had, the leadership she’s had, and companies that she’s worked with…it would only make sense to me that she’s instilled this incredible work ethic in him. Her focus is making sure she has all the tools and knowledge she can to guide him through his rookie season and his NFL career,” added White.
There are only about 1,000 certified agents, and of those, only about 50 are women. Jackson now joins that elite class and the growing numbers of new agents who are also parents of NFL players, including Heather Van Norman, mother of Odell Beckham Jr., Alishia Jones, mother of Colts player Jaylon Jones, and Patrice McDowell-Brown, mom of linebacker Preston Brown.
While Jackson is not officially listed as representation for Daniels, the star has often credited his mom as his biggest support and with her new certification, we are even more sure he knows he’s in good hands.
“My mother has never missed a game. If it’s raining out there, she’s going to be out there. If it’s [negative] degrees, she’s going to be out there standing up the whole time making sure she’s cheering me on,” Daniels previously told “The Pivot” podcast.
