“Welcome to the Serena Williams Building” has a nice ring to it, huh?
On Wednesday, Nike announced that it has named one of its new four world headquarters buildings after tennis great Serena Williams. Since becoming a Nike athlete in 2003, Williams has become one of the greatest athletes of all time, currently holding an Open-Era record of 23 grand slam singles titles.
In addition to Williams, Nike also honored former Olympic runner Sebastian Coe with a building and Coach Mike Krzyzewski, who the company named its new fitness center after. The fourth structure will be a parking garage that celebrates New York City’s sporting heritage.
“When completed, the Serena Williams Building will be the biggest structure at WHQ at more than 1 million square feet covering nearly three city blocks,” Nike said in a statement.
